      keeping your shit relatively together in the face of intense discomfort for long periods of time is one of the survival skills you might need to work on individually. almost everything else is community work.

        @lzg I have had the same thinking and tried to learn it that way - with varying success. And we do have to do some of the learning on our own. Having been in training group settings that have something very close to that learning goal made me change my mind a bit. Specifically how helpful it can be, when you're overwhelmed with discomfort, to have a leader to guide you through some it and then find a subgroup - someone else who relates and can help contain it, so you're not working alone.
