The Faroese government wants to make a law that will require internet providers to store who has what IP address during what period. These logs will be stored for a year.
The Data Protection Authority said this amounts to mass #surveillance.
The police prosecutor disagrees, saying that no personal data is stored. It's not logging traffic. it's logging who is the registered owner for an IP address at a given point.
The police want this data to prosecute people for CSEM.
