I just saw someone actually say that women cannot write assembly code.

    🙄

A woman wrote the assembly code that got humanity onto the moon. Be grateful

All the women who are smart enough to disprove misogyny are, in one way or another, stripped of their femininity by others

The woman who coded the Apollo Guidance Computer is Margaret H. Hamilton.

          She is still alive today.

During my years at university I was TA on a course on machine architecture several times. That’s one of the courses where students got to write the most assembly code.

In total I got to teach around 100 students. And among those 100 the smartest student was a woman (even though among those 100 students there were less than 10 women overall).

So my anecdotal evidence says it’s perfectly possible for a woman to outperform men in assembly programming.

And let’s not forget the first computer program in history was written by a woman. Sadly the computer it was supposed to run on was never finished.

Here's some assembly I wrote, in an assembly language THAT WAS INVENTED BY A WOMAN

@ rem - calculate remainder through repeated subtractions
                      @ arguments:
@ R0 - Number we are going to divide
@ R1 - Number we are diving by
@ only changes the value of R0
                      rem:
CMP R0, R1 @ compare the remainder and the divisor
BLT end @ if the remainder is less than divisor, stop loop
                      SUB R0, R0, R1 @ subtract divisor from remainder
B rem @ loop back to the initial comparison
                      end:
                      BX LR @ return divisor

I just saw someone actually say that women cannot write assembly code.

                                        🙄

A woman wrote the assembly code that got humanity onto the moon. Be grateful

@jackielovescompchem32 Maybe post the name of the person who said that. They are people who need outing so they cannot lurk in the dark and so we know who's brain is contaminated.

@jackielovescompchem32 Here's my Lego display of a woman who can write assembly code, standing proudly on the shelf.
