Nothing makes me feel older than the start of a new term with a fresh batch of undergraduates. The kids now seem to be layering their socks, like ankle socks over knee socks over thigh socks, and I have so many questions. Aren't their ankles hot? How do they fit them in their shoes? Do they buy shoes specially in bigger sizes to fit them into? Do they only have to wash the innermost ones? When did I turn into my grandmother?

@afewbugs And here I was getting frustrated that socks for sale seem to have gotten thinner... a solution is found!

@afewbugs You’re seeing them now before they molt, when the extra layers are still attached. That used to happen in the summer, before they went back to school, but global warming….
