    @PapyrusBrigade
    This might be a good idea if you are a company that makes money telling governments where their targets are
    This might be a bad idea if any governments might ever want to target you

      @Cassandra Yeah. If you're at all familiar with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs you don't need to watch it.

      It's a bit like Pride and Prejudice in that it focuses on one social class, and people who actually do any work remain in the background.

        @PapyrusBrigade @Npars01 That’s the problem with all these anti-social addled tech bros. They keep trying to reinvent normal human interactions.

        I agree with #Pluralistic 's observation that tech bros want to insert themselves & their products between you and your normal human interactions to monetize & manipulate them. Hostages, if you will.

              @PapyrusBrigade this takes something that could almost be a fun idea and turns it into something odd that the kids will probably hate. Imagine setting up equipment and recording a podcast interview with your kid, treating them like a pro athlete. That would be kinda fun as long as the kid actually is on board with that idea (they might still hate it!)

              Automating it sounds like it might be mildly entertaining for a few seconds before the kid gets bored or even creeped out.

                  @PapyrusBrigade Also, listening on the way to school? No one in the car wants to listen to that shit. There's probably some music your kid likes that you've been refusing to play in the car. Play that. Kids love sharing things with you! I fucking stg these people don't understand humans at all.

                  Brogrammer parents will literally make up an uncalled for fantasy world instead of just handing their kid the aux cord. Let your kid use your nice speakers that you squander on Lex Friedman.

                    @PapyrusBrigade Hang on, so putting all of your childs information - school, activities, ages, friends - online for anyone to access, that is suddenly a positive?

                    And all of their connections and family, with all of their activities?

                    At the same time as putting age restrictions on social media, purportedly to protect the children is happening.

                    More talking, less AI please.

                    @SteveClough @PapyrusBrigade these LLMs masquerading as AI sure sound like a sophisticated system set up to benefit our nation's top criminals and human traffickers. If they aren't the very same people, then I'm sure one has no problem selling the information to the other for the right price, and we all know how discreet these f'ers can be.

                      @ManWhoTalksToHisHand @Cassandra I've daydreamed of a movie with some operatic hero in the foreground playing out the usual tropes while, if you pay attention, you realize there's a whole set of characters in the background who help each other and save their community.

                        @foolishowl @Cassandra Ha! I too have imagined such a film! Maybe I should write it? The idea of the true main characters being the actual ones in the background sounds like it could be fun if done correctly.

                                    @SteveClough @PapyrusBrigade even more so, once you remember that "abducted children" is a popular theme in police procedural book and other genres (action, etc.) and thus very present in the training material of that bot.

                                      @PapyrusBrigade This is the kind of radical thinking that gives us on the left a bad name. Talk to your children indeed! Foresooth!

                                        @PapyrusBrigade looks like they haven't been rich *quite* long enough to figure out absentee parenting with a paid nanny but it sounds like they're heading in that direction

                                        i only wonder if it would make the kids better or worse

                                        @estelle @PapyrusBrigade <sarcasm>
                                        But why waste money on a real human nanny, when you could just ask Claude to vibecode you an agentic nanny and sell that "-as-a-Service" ?
                                        </sarcasm>

                                        (mandatory "poe's law" sarcasm tag, because it's very plausible there's a Techbro somewhere who's genuinely thinking this type of crap)

                                          @SteveClough @PapyrusBrigade even more so, once you remember that "abducted children" is a popular theme in police procedural book and other genres (action, etc.) and thus very present in the training material of that bot.

                                          @dryak @PapyrusBrigade I worked with a system for the education market, and was very aware that the basic details of children that were held there were prime targets for stealing and using for malicious purposes. I was always paranoid about these getting out.

                                          And yet - this gives the information away for free. Insane.
