Tonight many Danes celebrated St Martin's Eve — Mortensaften.

Martin of Tours (316-397) modestly hid in a barn when wanted for bishop but yapping #geese gave him away. We retaliate by serving goose, substituted by the more manageable duck in most homes.

This ancient tradition keeps many valuable cultural memories alive for our children:
1) Becoming a bishop is horrible
2) Don't hide among geese
3) Snitches get stitches
4) If the guilty are too big, punish someone smaller
