Self-hosting observation after a few months of it: the services that survive are the boring ones. One binary, one SQLite file, no queue, no cluster. My entire fediverse presence is a single Go process and a database file I could copy anywhere. Every clever stack I've watched die took its data architecture down with it. The boring one just gets backed up.
