Do you mean following PeerTube from within PeerTube? Did you try following your channel rather than account?
I think following within PT tends to work better when you follow PT channels rather than PT accounts? (But following PT from Mastodon tends to work better with PT accounts rather than PT channels 🤪 )
Some PT servers may also restrict the ability to resolve remote accounts for safety reasons, so it's worth asking your PT server admin about it too.

@FediTips @strypey Yes, I was trying to follow one PT account (@ele) from my own PT account (@7sleepersmusic@spectra.video). The PT search engine couldn't find the account that I wanted to follow. But it *could* find the videos on that account! So I found one of the videos and from there I could click thru to the subscribe button. But getting there wasn't easy!

Were you able to search for channels instead of accounts?
I was looking on the PeerTube Github page and there seems to be a bug that searches for channels work but searches for accounts don't?

@FediTips TBH I didn't think of that! Searching for a channel might have worked. But when I searched for the account it *did* bring up some of the older accounts associated with the user. It just didn't bring up the current one. Seems to be kind of hit or miss, y'know?

That's weird.
I'll do a reply on the issue to mention that this is potentially confusing.

@FediTips Many thanks! And TBH I've encountered similar issues before. I don't remember the details but it seems that finding accounts and channels in PT is just generally kinda awkward. Maybe it's just me. But might be worth doing a bit of user testing!

At least in my experience, the PT devs have been pretty good at responding to feedback and discussing design choices.
So, it's definitely worth raising these problems as they help make PT better.
