thank you. i was on instagram for a couple of years before i joined mastodon and didn't sell very much even though i had a lot of followers. but they were mostly other artists who just wanted me to follow them. and it was SO MUCH work with very little actual community/care, and it got to the point by the end where i felt sick every time i signed in and kept avoiding it. so i'm definitely not going back there. excellent that it works for some people though! it just didn't for me. but tyvm again!@moonrabbit @BlueAppaloosa I feel you! I wouldn't go back either.

@moonrabbit I never look at the tumblr homepage, just my dashboard. And I ad-block. I get just the weirdness I want.
I am okay. Visited a cool Buddhist stupa with my sibling this week. Temps are garbage again, but my garden is doing decently. I think I have gained the upper hand against the Japanese beetles. My birthday is in a fortnight and I have no particular emotional feeling about it, which is nice.

a question please for people who are here and on bluesky:
sigh. i don't want to start up over there but equally i don't want to get evicted for not paying my rent, and i might find some new customers if i try another platform.
but i did try it once, briefly and a while back, and i didn't last long. so i'm wondering whether it's the sort of place that i could just post sculpture photos and not really engage beyond that? i don't like the idea of doing that, but i can't maintain a presence in two places, i'm *not* leaving here, and i just didn't feel ok with the atmosphere on bluesky and wanted to hide when i tried it before. (and i'm not doing a bridgey account because i know that upsets people)
if anyone has any insights/ideas, i'd be very grateful.

@moonrabbit I'm not sure why having a brdigy account would offend anyone. I'm a harsh BlueSky critic but I'm not going to vilify anyone who wants to have a presence is both worlds. I say go for it if you think you can make a few extra bucks. The only thing I'd ask is to maintain your fediverse presence as well.

@mike i will absolutely not be leaving here, as i said in my post. but people *definitely* get upset about bridged accounts. and i can understand why really: if you're going to be in two places, then you should actually be in two places. imo! the problem is that i can't manage that. so i probably won't!

@moonrabbit If you look for customers and want to broaden customer base, you have to go where THEY are. And not virtue signal about Mastodon, which imo is crap anyway.

@formflux WIPSnips posts a prompt word every day, you find the word (or something with similar vibes) and Quote or reply with the hashtag and a snip (a paragraph or so) from your current work in progress. If you search on the hashtag you will find instructions quoted with just about every post to the tag.
Another writing hashtag on BS is #PretendPanel - a question to answer every day as though you were on a panel.
I'm sorry, I've never sold anything on Etsy and know nothing about that.
