@sebastian I would bet that the concept of the code being a “solution” comes from when CS was considered a branch of mathematics.

hhmm. perhaps. not sure.
i was mostly referring to designs of technology being called "solutions" to one or the other alleged gap, rather to things on code level.
i can see how you might call a program that solves an equation a "solution".
