    @benroyce

    Always vote.

    Always vote for the furthest left candidate on the ballot. (Even if you're voting in the opposing primary)

    But most of all, always vote. Even if it's a "hold your nose and vote" situation...

    We're in the middle, right now, of what happens when people don't.

    @ShredderFeeder The thing that really upsets me is that there are so many folks who earnestly believe that we're in the middle of what happens when people on the left vote no matter what, but the reality is that we're in the middle of what happens when people on the right vote no matter what.

    That's what we're up against. Willful useful fools for the right.

      @isaackuo @ShredderFeeder @benroyce @horqua @scottmiller42 @roknrol @mikelovesbikes @retech The right aren’t abstaining from voting or throwing away their votes because of some concept of purity. If everyone who had shown up for Biden had shown up for Harris, it would be a different world.

        @hakona

        maybe

        "There Are Decades Where Nothing Happens and Weeks Where Decades Happen"

        wrongly attributed to Lenin

        the earliest appearance of it seems to be by the author Adriaan Schade van Westrum

          @mikelovesbikes @benroyce @retech If you're unaffiliated are you allowed to vote in the Primaries?

          @roknrol @mikelovesbikes @benroyce @retech In #wyoming if we are unaffiliated, we literally have nothing but potential ballot issues to vote for in the August primary. If we wish to vote in the August primary, we MUST declare our party by May 18th. We are not allowed to switch parties after the May deadline. We can vote for anyone in the General. Our Secretary of State is a diehard MAGAt and legislature is controlled by Freedom Caucus. We R screwed!

            I campaigned strongly during 2014. If one reply sickened me it was 20 year olds declaring ’I don’t do politics’.
            I wanted to scream at times ‘do you know how effin government works?’

                @CStamp Which is why they keep winning.

                The right knows he's not really a christian, they just don't care. He drags the world to the right and that's all they care about.

                We need to bring that same energy. The "more left" a candidate is the better, even if they're not as far left as you'd like.

                  @ShredderFeeder I don't think we CAN bring exactly the same energy. For the most part, we actually do care and I think that's inherent.

                  It's easy to make things worse, but it's difficult to make things better. If all you care about is making things worse for certain "others", there's lots of ways to do that. If you actually want to change things for the better ... well, that's not so simple.

                    @isaackuo @ShredderFeeder @benroyce @scottmiller42 @roknrol @retech i disagree. You couch the situation in terms of the right vs the left. I see it in terms of the old vs the young. Older voters vote conservatively and consistently because they have the time and desire to lock out change. Younger voters don’t bother. They’re in a hurry and expect immediate results. When they don’t get them they drop out and stop voting.

                        @isaackuo

                        Then we will keep losing.

                        It's a two-party system, as much as it shouldn't be, it is, and with the 270 to win, until we get rid of the electoral college it's never going to change.

                        So you have to work from within.

                        In the primaries, vote as far left as you can. If it came to AOC vs. Hillary Clinton in a primary, I'd vote for AOC every time.

                        But in the general, I'll vote for the democrat, I no matter who.

                        it's the only way the world doesn't end soon.

                          @ShredderFeeder I absolutely agree with you (and of course @benroyce ) on the necessary strategy.

                          I'm just saying that we can't accomplish this with the exact same "energy" as what people on the right are doing.

                          We care about policy. We have earnest internal debates on what the policies should be. What the priorities should be. I don't think that can, or should, be changed.

                          So we have to find our own way to promote voting.

                                @ShredderFeeder Well, I think that continuing to care about policy is HOW we fix the big problem. Trump is deeply unpopular right now, and we're kicking ass in elections right now, and like it or not it is NOT because of the fascism (not directly, anyway).

                                Like it or not, Trump is unpopular on policy issues, like the Iran War and inflation. Democrats who are winning elections are winning on alternative policies.

                                  @ShredderFeeder We can absolutely win on issues of policy.

                                  What we need to cut out is useful fool "purity" demands that every candidate must agree with you on every issue (or one particular issue in particular) or we won't vote - helping the Republicans win in order to teach "The Democrats" a lesson.

                                      @isaackuo

                                      EXACTLY.

                                      Even if they're not 100% in agreement (and face it, NO ONE will be) vote for the one who most closely aligns with you.

                                      7 million voters decided that not voting an allowing Trump to be elected was somehow the best thing for the world, as you said to "teach democrats a lesson"

                                      And now we see how that's working out. Trump would be in prison right now if it weren't for them.
