Welcome and hi! That's a very nice project. Care to share where the pattern came from? I think my next one will be a poison dart frog dragon that @badstitch designed not long ago.

@springdiesel thanks you! The design is by Catstitch21 on Etsy. I used different threads that I already owned, and I placed the leaves a little more outward. It was a really easy stitch, I can recommend it.

I'm also very new to cross stitch. It's a fun practice to explore. Are you following kits so far or have you branched out to your own designs?

@allysseriordan ooh a fellow newbie, great! I started with some free patterns and cheap thread. After that I bought a kit, which is nice and easy, but I found the amount of fabric given to be very.... frugal. So now I'm buying pdf patterns and kitting up myself! I actually love doing that, much more than I expected.
How about you? Kits or kitting up?

I've found a kit from the V&A so I'm working on that at the moment. Ultimately I should end up with a nice bookmark. It's been nice to start that way. I was a but overwhelmed when I started looking into what's needed. The kit is a nice reassurance but now that I have an idea of what I'm doing, I think I'll look up a PDF pattern for the next projec

That's not going to be for a while though as I'm also very busy with a crochet shawl >.<
