@pj oh definitely. Especially tag any writer who is on the #Forkiverse so they can see their work being shared and boost if they want
-
@pj I don’t know. Don’t you know? Jesus, who’s driving this thing??
@toothless @pj — Jesus take the wheel! C’mon, Jesus, wake up!

@pj yes they do, and I hope you’re sitting down when you have the shocking realization that the link you posted stays exactly as you posted it—no automatic “link shortening” (i.e., rewriting the URL to route it through some tracking system so everyone who clicks on it will have that fact added to their Permanent Record aka adtech profile)

@toothless @pj for instance, my account is on a small Danish instance run by @saustrup in his basement. So maybe it's mors like a million clown cars of various sizes going in all directions?
It's anarchy by design, which also means it can't be controlled or shut off. It's resistance infrastructure.
@EvilCartyen @toothless @pj @saustrup unless you're in Iran. Apparently they have the whole shutoff thing down this time

@Clem @toothless @pj @saustrup yes, they should look into meshtastic and similar projects.
-
@pj yes! And personally I would add that using https://archive.org/ for links is appreciated to overcome removals, paywalls and other hurdles
@b0rn_dead @pj I like to save the time it takes to hit a key and cheat death juuuuust a little bit and use archive.ph

@EvilCartyen @toothless @pj @saustrup don't meshtastic/meshcore messages have a limit on the number of hops? Wouldn't that limit its usefulness as far as communication external to the country? Plus it's LOS so they can't really hide the nodes from the regime unless you camouflage it in another device. They've started blocking Starkink to a large extent as well.

@Clem @toothless @pj @saustrup it's possible, I'm no meshtastic expert, just the first thing that came to mind.

@Clem @EvilCartyen @toothless @pj I think the default is 3 of 5 hops max. If you set that much higher, there's a risk you'll flood the band. With clear line of sight, 3-5 hops might get you 50+ km.

@saustrup @EvilCartyen @toothless @pj Does anyone know if Iran is more than 100 miles border to border?

@Clem @saustrup @toothless @pj
Haha... there's almost 2000 km from the Persian Gulf to the border with Armenia
