They just use data centers to kill us and pillage the land, instead of guns and bombs.

@climatenewsnow Let's contrast that, shall we? Tucson water service area is 1.8 billion gallons a month. The fucking GOLF courses consume anywhere from 300-450 MILLION gallons. A MONTH. 37 golf courses use 8-12 million gallons EACH over the Tucson municipal area. YOU do the math.

Knock it off with the manufactured crisis bullshit. There's plenty of ways of hating on AI without having to MISREPRESENT. Also known as a 'lie by omission'. If you have to lie to make your case...You have no case.

@climatenewsnow PS: It's shit like this that opens doors for people to question your legitimacy and the larger ACTUAL legitimacy of climate shift. Yet you still stand around wondering why.
FACT CHECK YOUR MATERIAL BEFORE PUBLISHING. BASIC questions would have revealed this as a red herring. Questions like is this extraordinary by local norms? Or even a basic what ARE local norms would have revealed this as a non issue. BASIC FUCKING SCIENCE KNOWS A VALUE WITHOUT A CONTRAST IS JUST A DATAPOINT

@tomjennings @climatenewsnow The rate only seems excessive when it's not compared to nearly ANY other sector. This was supposed to be supplementary. My principal point was made in another post. Maybe I should have linked the two accordingly. Forgive the oversight.

@tomjennings @climatenewsnow Its crap like this that allows your opponents to paint you as alarmists. This water usage by AI with how fast & widespread it's become even among restrained outlets is doing incalculable harm to your image. It's an obvious ploy letting you hang yourselves publicly.
It also illustrates what's lacking in left wing causes today. You don't have anyone removing roadblocks to your cause, so have no 'defense against the dark arts' if you'll forgive a harry potter allegory.

AI datacenters are a blight. But this article is misleading.

The data center isn't open yet. If construction continues, it will open in 2027
                            Src: https://www.pima.gov/3552/Project-Blue-FAQ

H2O *may* be related to construction.

                            Also:
2015 Avg water use of US citizen: 83gal/day
                            Src: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Residential_water_use_in_the_U.S._and_Canada

                            500,000/(83*365)=~16.5
                            16–17 peoples' annual water usage.

Also, data center water use: 5,000,000gal/day
                            Human water usage: 83gal/day
                            Src: https://www.eesi.org/articles/view/data-centers-and-water-consumption

We must fight, but we must be accountable.
