    Casually enraged about the terrible history teaching in German schools. We had *soooo* many classes on Nazi-timw but...

    - nobody mentioned that the books burned also contained the IfS library containing research by and on trans* folx and gays.
    - ... even more so, it was the /first/ big target of the book burnings. literally *the* image to illustrate the book burnings on the Opernplatz did *not* primarily target Jews or artists, but consisted mostly of the raided IfS.
    - the other book burnings didn't target gender & sexuality literature much, because it all was burnt already.
    - to state apparatus was encouraged to deport trans* people to concentration camps 6 months after the first were built in 1933
    - large scale deportation by German Jews started only 8 years later, in '41 (this also partially explains their vain hope that they might be spared)
    - by then a lot of the trans* and gay folx were already dead, so yeah, the "big sweeps" contained almost none of us.

    Oh, and we kept a lot of the laws from the Nazis, some are still there 0:-)

      And yes, Jews had it bad. Real bad. But a lot of the big numbers are simply due... to there having been more Jews. And the Nazis didn't start with them, but even more marginalized & vulnerable groups who they managed to eradicate almost completely.

        And I believe that we still haven't recovered or rediscovered all the knowledge destroyed through the plundering and burning of the IfS books

          @realn2s Nope, by a far shot. The amount of knowledge and records lost is mind boggling.

            @ljrk
            in addition to keeping the nazi laws, #germany is still operating gas chambers. #berlin activists, who exposed the gas chambers, are ordered to delete the videos and pay €100.000 to the operators.
