Surprise!

Surprise! I made an emoji font! 3,684 happy little pictures.

What I enjoyed most was drawing the animals. Once the animals were finished, I figured I might as well draw the rest, too.

@frankrausch Can‘t find the Tapir Emoji.

[frankrausch@typo.social]

@hitext It is hidden in the Private Use Area as U+E100 for now. Only until Unicode adopts it and assigns a proper emoji code point, of course. 🥲️

@frankrausch Those look SO LOVELY! I like the style: retro, yet no sentimentalnostalgia vibe!

I notice you have the digits in the cmap but no glyphs assigned. Missing, or deliberate choice?

[frankrausch@typo.social]

@pixelambacht Thanks! There is a ton of work left in the font production details. I use a folder of SVGs, a config file, and the stock nanoemoji scripts, and these scripts do a lot of opinionated things that are not accessible via configuration files.
The only thing I patched so far is the font metadata (like copyright, license, description).

@frankrausch Love 'em! It has that bit of a MS-Paint-Vector feel, but then by someone truly skilled. Really some uniqueness which is missing on a big part of the internet nowadays.

[frankrausch@typo.social]

@typearture Thanks so much! This feel is exactly what I was aiming for.

[k@layer8.space]

@frankrausch switching oldtodon to use this asap lmao

@dnlutz Danke! ️

[pixelambacht@typo.social]

@frankrausch I used that back in the day to whip up some same color fonts! Anyway, it's a great font and I hope to see it in use soon

[obrhoff@mastodon.social]
