it's on my fav list, though @jwcph @mosgaard @fortifieduniverse @uheplugins The u-he synthesizers, Zebra in particular, are versatile enough that you can spend hours happily shaping sounds with them.
️ The offer sheer endless possibilities and mostly really outstanding sound.Zebralette is much more accessible, with a great UI for much quicker results, I'd say.

@amadeus @mosgaard @fortifieduniverse @uheplugins I'm sure - but even though the likes of Zebralette, Podolski & TyrellN6 are simpler than their big brothers or other synths, like Tunefish & Surge XT, I'm still a long way from being able to deliberately shape a sound, even on them, let alone understanding how all those great presets are even created with the available controls

@mosgaard That's already WAAAY to complicated for me - which is why I'm still considering buying a Korg Littlebits set; I think I need the simplest possible practical basics to wrap my head around this & as far as I know that might be the only modular synth that's both simple & cheap enough to do this for me.
If anyone knows of a digital thing at the same simplicity level, I'd be glad to know about it

I should note that even most demos of the Littlebits synth are too complicated, in that they don't start with "this is where the sound comes from" but e.g. with the sequencer already running, or with setting up MIDI - assuming that the viewer already sort-of knows how a synthesizer works, which I don't, except in some diffuse way that I'm finding it very hard to apply to any of these virtual synths...

@mosgaard BTW one thing I would love to be able to do is reverse-engineer from a preset, which I also haven't found out to do yet
like, I have to assume that any preset starts with a sound from an OSC & then stuff is done to it, so what if I could gradually undo that stuff, backwards, until I had just the base sound & then go forward & re-add the stuff until I had the preset sound again...? -

With VCV rack, you can make very simple synths with modules. I remember using it for that exact purpose, when I started using synth.

@mosgaard Still far too advanced. Looks great, but the first three "beginner" tutorials I found start out so far above my head I don't even really understand what they're saying (one of them was at something about "voltage per octave" within the first two minutes...).
To me it seems like this is the LEGO Technics set & I'm looking for DUPLO
