Yes Republicans… why?
@randahl especially since the quantity in question is like only 2-5 days supply.

A screen capture of a social media post.
In the top left is a red logo with an image of the dome of the US Capitol building and the text House GOP.
Next to the logo is the name of the author, "House Republicans" and their social media address, "@HouseGOP".
The text of the post is one sentence:
"Why are we still buying Russian oil?"

@Darkphoenix @randahl the numbers I know put usage of oil in the US at 520000 to 550000 tons (metric) per day. That makes this deal laughable on the one hand and shows how fucked we are regarding climate change on the other.

Yes Republicans… why?
@randahl so Putin gets dollars to buy arms for Iran to fight against USA.
-
Yes Republicans… why?
@randahl Because the US has lost its illegal war with Iran.

@randahl @RuthODay2 funny thing, too. The question is still relevant today, nothing much changed regarding fossil fuels and uranium. The world is still buying from Putin. The embargoes are not working, or our dependencies are too strong - still on fossils.
Renewable energy from sun and wind will change this. But the Republicans in the US and conservatives and rightwings in Europe are fighting them, slowing down the much needed change for clean energy, independance from Putin and other dictators. -
