Tolkien gave in 1938, in which Tolkien compared the very wealthy to dragons. The lecture was in part an explanation of Tolkien's thought process behind his 1937 book, The Hobbit.

@mattmay I don't think Thiel is concerned about a 'one-world, totalitarian state' coming into being: the authour has not done her homework.
Peter Thiel is concerned only that he controls the one-world, totalitarian state when he creates it.
Folks really should read and listen to what he actually says. This is a man who believes the world needs to be depopulated and is creating a massive autonomous weapons factory in the US to help achieve this.
