Just saw the excellent documentary "Ernest Cole: Lost and Found" about the first black freelance photographer in South Africa. The documentary by Raoul Peck features narration by LaKeith Stanfield, which is just perfect. LaKeith Stanfield _is_ Ernest Cole.

You need to see the documentary because those photos are just... you must see them. The documentary is mainly a walk-through of so many of his photos. If I saw them in a museum or gallery, it would take me weeks to go through them because there is so much in each one. Plus, there are definitely lessons learned about what exile does to people. Of course there are parallels to so much happening today.
Stunning. Heartbreaking, too. Won L'Œil d'or in 2024 at Cannes.
