Probably similar for NVMe too and of course GPUs are already at nuts prices since the cryptocurrency-craze.
Of course you remain responsible for your own decisions – I'm not, at all, ever. -

Quick news coverage of the RAM and NVMe shortage with drastic increase in prices, that hasn't yet hit everywhere but will soon, so if you need to act it must be with a quickness.
Snippet from yesterday's episode of @techlinked@YouTube.com.In a (currently) poorly written new article Reuters reports that "Exclusive: Samsung hikes memory chip prices by up to 60% as shortage worsens, sources say" (https://www.reuters.com/world/china/samsung-hikes-memory-chip-prices-by-up-60-shortage-worsens-sources-say-2025-11-14/) and that "these memory chips, which are mainly used in servers" but do not specifically state which chips, while only generally describing DDR5 which are used also in desktop computers, laptops, etc.
Presumably but not currently actually specified Reuters is describing ECC RDIMM (registered RAM), which is used in servers and workstations,
however, the continuing drastic price increases in ECC registered DDR5 will extremely probably at least later also lead to regular consumer non-ECC UDIMM (unregistered) DDR5, which is used in desktop and laptop computers, getting similar further drastic price increases as non-ECC UDIMM production is likely to shift to cover the demand for ECC RDIMM and as the "AI" service providers and similar may also shift to use non-ECC UDIMM when they can not get ECC RDIMM.Sooo... again, if you are currently planning to build a new computer or upgrade your computer's RAM anytime at least probably within a year, or potentially even longer, you should probably look at acquiring the modules you will need soon before the cost increases even more at computer part retail shops.

"RAM: WTF?", a deep dive from end-user (=you) perspective into the current skyrocketing in computers and similar devices memory (RAM) and briefly also storage (flash=NVMe+other SSD) which is expected to last for an exceptionally long time, by some experts up to about a decade.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hLiwNViMakI recently bought DDR5 RAM for a computer build I had previously planned to do probably around May 2026, but while my plan was to use DDR5-6000 at CL26 or lower CL, I found out that it was too late as CL26 simply does not exist in the country at all for end-users now and the major retailer I spoke to said their regional supplier has no plans to supply CL26, at all, so I had to go for CL28 and that seemed to be running out too as several retailers listed those as available for order "in supplier's warehouse" and similar but then when order was placed they replied that "oh, whoops, nope, they didn't have it and now we are removing the listing".
Similar for M.2 NVMe.So, unless something drastically changes the trajectory ("AI"-bubble pops or similar) and if you intend to build a new computer or similar within the relevant timespan of years, you probably should have gotten your RAM/NVMe/etc already, but now is probably better than soon or next year. Probably... nobody knows.

Aaargh! RAM prices are really nuts now.
So, this https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/comments/1p6hc9p/honestly_a_5090_seems_cheap_now/ is obviously extreme at 64GB DDR5-6000 CL36 for... €2426 (≈$2811)! 🤯But for some arbitrary probably non-outliers:
• The major online computers-stuff shop where I bought my previous RAM from, which is exact same model except slightly better at CL30, cost SEK2999 (≈$316) when I bought it on 2024-05-02 while it now costs SEK6790 (≈$716) at the same place, so that's an increase of ~126% (yes, more than double).
And now they also enforce rationing at that shop, max 2 per customer.
• My current RAM, which is similar but CL28 cost SEK5090 (≈$536 when I bought it as recently as 2025-11-03 but now it costs SEK7990 (≈$842) instead at the same place and that's still the cheapest for that model, an increase of ~57% in a few weeks... and another major shop sells that RAM for SEK11216 (≈$1182).
Better (=lower) than CL28 is just not available to regular people here now, that I found while searching anyway, while it was widely available like 2 months ago.Wellp, I'm sure glad I got that new RAM in preparation for my build planned for spring now already to ward off the "AI"-booming prices for actual people.

@b9AcE
you should download some more RAM
