    @da_667 @cR0w yes, really, fresh leaves of hemlock makes a great tea if you are a tech billionaire, member of Herrenrasse or both! It was a favourite of the Spartans, gives strength and power and superiority, so it could only support yours, right? Ignore the tingly feeling in your mouth, that ceases after a few minutes. Adding a teaspoon of lead sugar improves its taste.

      fellas, I'm gonna level with you. I'm starting to feel like computing in general is a series of trade-offs on how far you're willing to compromise on your morals.

        Use linux. Accept the curse of the automatroid: most major distros are accepting AI commits. Accept that systemd has been a cancer for a very long time.

        Use macOS. Accept the curse of the Walled garden: You may run only what we tell you to run, when we tell you to run it. The rules change with every major OS update. You will accept them or you will go elsewhere.

        Use Windows. Accept the curse of the hunted: You are being watched. You cannot slip your pursuer, you cannot obfuscate yourself. Even if you think you've hidden yourself, because of how convoluted Windows is, you can't really be 100% sure that you are not being watched. And even if you aren't you won't know whether or not a critical update re-enables the watcher in the walls.

          @millie @da_667 yeah that's the one.
          I also wanted to learn how to write init executables in general but that will probably never yield anything useful

            @paul_ipv6 @da_667 i have to assume after every boom you had the previous guard that was fired/purged having similar conversations, im not that naive to think we’re wholly unique

            @cyberquixote @paul_ipv6 @da_667 I'm 56. What we're going through now in tech is much worse than anything that has come before.

              @da_667 I agree that you don't owe me anything. I said so in my last post. 🙂

              You asserted that I should "Accept ...". If your goal is to get your audience to accept your claim, it's in your interest to say what you mean.

              Maybe I'm not in your target audience. And that's okay. I don't follow you. I found your post from Drew DeVault's boost.

                i disagree, i think it was always this bad and our awareness or lack of didn’t let us understand how bad.

                knowing is pain, and in some cases, a sign to give up and give in.

                many people lower on the rungs knew about it and have been repeatedly ignored or discounted as haters/weirdos. of course before would of been better to realise it.

                i used to be someone who believed in a lot of this stuff uncritically and it took a lot of pain and experience to see just how fucked it all was. nobody told me, i had to learn first hand.

                you could be right too, though. im not sure which scenario would be worse

                  Is keypassXC problematic? sort of. Heard they started accepting AI commits. Is it "We tacitly support a dude who thinks europe needs an ethnic cleansing" levels of bad? Well AI sucks ass, but its not quite as bad as supporting DHH.

                  @da_667 The worst person you know's online posts has been trained into every single one of these AIs. None of it is trustworthy.

                      Well, your choices are lynx and that's basically it.
