I teach public health to mostly college freshmen and they have 10 writing assignments so I guess I teach some aspect of scientific writing.
Mostly though I try to get the kids to write and not paste the writing prompt into chatgpt!@mycotropic @RoRo Tryin' to think of what my colleagues would say --> find ways to get ideas going in class w/ each other (or if ti's online, in discussion) ... **and** talk about the issues w/ ChatGPT not as a "we will try to catch you cheating," but "this is how you learn to express *your* thoughts.*

@aarbrk my main focus is on the primary (elementary) and near primary ages kids, k-5 (ages 5-11), although everything I do has to work within the continuum of the school (ages 3-18, we are an IB school).

@RoRo I teach, develop curriculum, NA teaching quals but don't teach in NA. I totally get the revision-in-isolation feeling. Not sure if I can help any, but am happy to be a sounding board! What grades & kinds of literacy are you working on? What problems are you aiming to solve?
@Bumblefish I also don’t teach where my qualifications are from. I work at an international school in Japan, at an IB school, but got my certification in the states (MA). My focus right now is on the primary (elementary) school, US grades k-5 (UK/Aus/etc entry (reception, foundation, etc - 6). When I arrived at the school last year they were using the Readers and Writers program, which means they are not using best practices. Helping them phase out RW and learn best practices!

@RoRo Oh great! I've been in Japan since forever, used to teach JHS and HS English, now at uni. at mark jezebelkat@famichiki.jp also has a lot if experience in this area. (Removed the first at so I'm not tagging them into the conversation without any warning). "Best practices" is a highly variable term, but sounds like the curriculum needs a re-work. Any specific issues?

I'm a high school Maths teacher/tutor, if that's of any help (I've found trying to change things in a school to be extremely difficult - the "we've always done it this way" mentality - so not sure I can help you much in that regard). All my Maths posts are made using the #MathsMonday hashtag (and various other Maths hashtags, but you can find all of my specific ones under MathsMonday, which only a couple of other teachers have ever used here) -
