@VeroniqueB99 The Pacific Ocean is a violent, unpredictable ocean, not "pacific" at all. This is truly an amazing and crazy feat. She halved the best female record, and beat the male record by 9 days. She rowed alone, and high waves pushed her backwards for miles, and she survived storms with 14 foot waves. She's a Grand Canyon River rower! She raised money (over $300k) for a foundation that provides mental and wellness health for other Grand Canyon River guides. Truly remarkable.
WOW! I didn't know...she's amazing!

So ... logistical question ... does she (and others of her particular brand of crazy!) sleep at all? Doesn't the boat drift when the "motor" is off?
I mean, she must 'cause ... 43 days is a long time with no sleep. Curious how that works when you are unsupported.

@VeroniqueB99 i would kill for those arms.
@flipper @VeroniqueB99 Or, row

@pattykimura @VeroniqueB99 Power to her!
Having been a guide on 3 private trip on the Grand Canyon (plus many other river trips), I could see where the pro guides could use some help. Its a lot of really strenuous physical work to get downriver, setup camp, cook, clean and pack every day. Plus each trip is a long time to be away from family, even though you're around (often, very lazy) customers.

She needs a world where she can still read her own 'Top Ten List of Reasons Why Women Choose the Boat' on Letterman as she makes the global talk circuit and gets tired of the people who introduce her in France saying, "and, sacrebleu, are my arms tired!"

Extraordinary.

News: "Female American rower speaks after completing record-breaking solo journey from CA to HI.
Grand Canyon river rafting guide Kelsey Pfendler became the first American woman and fastest person to successfully row solo across the mid-Pacific region, from California to Hawaii."

@VeroniqueB99 old rich men better buy laws on those bathing suit areas that they will never touch.

-- ABC7 Los AngelesShe is indeed a badass.
But for the media, who did interviews with her via Starlink along the way, it was a "too easy" accomplishment.
The issue isn't about Kelsey breaking records, it is about how the media treats amazing people who become too accessible to them.
The drama of record-setting exploration like this ls being measured on the same scale as YouTubers thru-hiking after soliciting equipment sponsorships.
This is in a completely different category.

@VeroniqueB99 German media also published her story. Could have been a warning to never get into a boat with her, though.
