@quaap Dolly Parton was a person who clearly showed what the USA could have been. For a German Kid growing up in the 1980s like me, she was a person who showed that the USA is not just Reagan, Rocky and Rambo, but that there's also compassion and kindness.
With very few exceptions, I always very much disliked her music, but she was so much more than that. I rarely feel anything when some celebrity dies, but this one saddened me deeply. And I am as far left as it gets.

@quaap I like Christians, I knew a family across the way who were Christians, genuinely good people thoroughly in the lefty sense. I don't like Christianism though, where the power of faith is used as a cudgel to beat others into submission with and to control them. Lots of Christianists going around though, far fewer Christians who believed in their faith's teachings.

Leviticus is a bunch of utter nonsense, as anyone with a functional braincell will realise if they look at it. (That goes for a lot of the Old Testament, which is folk "wisdom" for living in a desert region.)
IMAO, of course.
(This moose is not a Christian as such, but they did have a few good ideas, it's just a shame that they never stuck with them. US "Christianity" is mostly a cloak for the relentless pursuit of power and wealth: megachurches.)
