The rights are inalienable because you can't give them away and they can't be taken or sold. Doesn't mean that it is impossible to keep you from exercising those rights. People are kept from the things they have a right to all the time.
A government that does not allow one to exercise their rights is not a legitimate government. It's a criminal one. You have the rights, but thugs are keeping you from exercising them. It happens sometimes.

My favorite part is people convinced that it's only 3 years and whatever comes next will be a 'great undoing'.
Even if it's that easy, ain't gonna be that easy.

@jeffowski "then we must build a system..." Those few words represent a big undertaking. Luckily the US still has a robust legal system despite the DoJ and a stacked Supreme Court. They also have "free speech", and the heroes of Minneapolis as examples. Democracy is imperfect and is increasingly abused by politicians. Democracy is unwell, but not yet dead - and so far it seems to work OK in other countries. Perhaps the US is sick other ways that need fixing before looking to change the system.
