oh my god; I went looking for examples of art by George Barr, and found a cropped artist photo that I extremely wanted to see more of, and: wow the full view does NOT disappoint

for the record, the art that made me look for this guy is *exactly* what you would hope from the photo

[ravenworks@yiff.life]

WAIT omg I just realised the cosplayer in the photo is cosplaying ONE OF HIS PAINTINGS.

[ravenworks@yiff.life]

this seriously looks like 2010s fetish art

[ravenworks@yiff.life]

that's a compliment

[sugar@chitter.xyz]

@RavenWorks this is a powerful thread

[sneksqueezer@yiff.life]

@RavenWorks curious why dated to 2010s specifically

[sirlan@derg.social]

@RavenWorks@yiff.life hot lizards sure has a long heritage

[ravenworks@yiff.life]

@SnekSqueezer I vaguely feel like that's when "big curvy talon-legs that are half the size of the character" had a particular blossoming but honestly it might've just been when they crossed my path more often (or I might be remembering it wrong altogether)

[netraven@hear-me.social]

@RavenWorks early furries?

[gyro@chitter.xyz]

@RavenWorks
This is just furry art, omg

[gyro@chitter.xyz]

@RavenWorks
Like it may have been 1970 or something but the spirit (being horny for creature) is obviously there

[tezoatlipoca@mas.to]

@RavenWorks

that's super cool.

[spottyfox@pounced-on.me]

@RavenWorks Ohhhh, Xxxenophile. Not surprised.

[faoluin@chitter.xyz]

@RavenWorks Ngl the more I think about this the more fascinated I am. This is like, proof that furries and furry-adjacent themes really are older than the internet.

[colinstu@birdbutt.com]

@RavenWorks thinking of you @orzel

(also see more posts in this thread)

[orzel@meow.social]

@colinstu oh my! Oh yeah, that's right up my alley. Thanks for that one

[ksanaroth@derg.social]

@RavenWorks@yiff.life my goodness, thats some rad art, no bias at all but the lizard o.o

[mym@toot.cat]

@RavenWorks image description says that's Kathy Sanders, presumably the 2015 International Costumer's Guild Lifetime Achievement Award recipient https://www.costume.org/lifetime/sanders.html

[phantomkitty@furries.club]

@spottyfox @RavenWorks I am having a mental parse error with this comment. What does the picture of someone cosplaying one of the artist's paintings have to do with the Phil Foglio adult comic book series?
