@JoannaCanFixIT @glynmoody They've cut ties to Russia. Rostelecom was a large shareholder of the company but they have new one now. They are trustworthy, I've been using their OS for over decade. Maemo/Meego before that. Yeah the "AI box" was kinda meh, but I guess they had to explore ways to make profits. I think their situation is better now though.

@ambiguous_yelp @olivenolje @kde One issue with using custom ROMs is device availability. I wanted to use an alternative OS instead of stock Android, but most devices supported by CalyxOS (which is currently on hold) and LineageOS are no longer available for purchase in my country. The ideal option would be to buy a Google Pixel and use GrapheneOS, but unfortunately, it's not available in my country either. I wouldn't recommend using Murena e/OS or other alternatives that don't provide significant privacy and security benefits. However, even with Android forks, we'd still be relying on Google. Therefore, I'm hoping that Linux phones will become more usable in the future.

@jbzGoogle announced that as of September 2026, it will no longer be possible to develop apps for the Android platformfor the android platform, or for their market?

@fdroidorg @Preuk I still have problems to understand what happens with apps like those of fossify, or DuckDuckGo for example, that i downloaded and maintain over F-Droid, but that are also available on Playstore and thus should be under the "verified" category.These should still work but not the F-Droid Store App itself so i need to update via a website manually???I am not an IT person. I genuelly have problems understanding this, despite having read the infos i found so far.

Jeg har også brugt Obtainium. Den virker måske lidt mere eksotisk, men i virkeligheden henter den open source-apps direkte fra Github - og jo altså dermed som udvikleren tænkte det uden videre indpakning. Man indlægger selve app’en, og så kigger man på siden med app-konfigurationer og finder de programmer, som man gerne vil have styret gennem Obtanium. Jeg har blandt andet brugt den til Read You (RSS-læser) og Mullvad (VPN-program).

Så fik jeg mig en Fairphone 4. Det gik fint med at installere e/OS på den og fjerne den indbyggede browser. Mobilepay og Arbejdernes Landsbank virker uden problemer. MitID virker ikke, kørekort-app dukker ikke op i app-lounge og betalingkort på tlf gør jeg mig endnu ikke i.

Jeg har været imponeret over K9-turned-Thunderbird, men jeg har også oplevet, at den har været lidt længere om at kvittere for læsning til mailserveren.
