    @janeishly usually when i've got a device that constantly resets the clock after a restart, it's because the internal (clock/bios) battery is dead, or won't take a charge from the main battery. i came across this post - it applies to the Nikon 1 V1 - not sure which version you have however:https://www.dpreview.com/forums/threads/nikon-1-v1-stuck-cycling-power-and-displaying-message.4644096/halfway down are photos of the internal battery. if the camera was left unpowered for a long time, the internal battery might have degraded so much that it will not recharge anymore.
