Think about it for a second. Food and water for three or four days, or even a week, *is expecting community to help*. It's just being realistic about how long it takes to mobilize that help.

The fact a lot of the people doing those things do not recognize this reality and think otherwise does not reduce the importance of them having enough supplies to survive the gap.

Now, prepping for a year? That's just putting off the inevitable, if community doesn't come through.

@jackwilliambell @pluralistic Well, it's expecting unspecified other people to fix things while not contributing to community... I should add that this is quasi-official prepper advice; nothing about sharing or engaging with your community, just have enough for yourself & everything will somehow just be fine.

I should also add that the last time people here thought a crisis was coming they hoarded yeast & toilet paper.

The common idea of "crisis" is bonkers, is what I'm saying.
