@db "The styling system that powers Meta"? No thanks, I'll stick to futzing around in plain old hand-written CSS.

@db why use cascading style sheets when you could use cascading variable names like “styles” and “color styles” 😅

@db Trying to read the document HTML tree and CSS of a Facebook page, is like the bit in Nolan's Interstellar where Matthew McConaughey enters the black hole...

@db corporate tech's obsession with programmers having to learn as few programming languages as possible (so that they're replaceable) has resulted in the much worse situation of programmers having to learn an infinite array of redundant frameworks.

@davidgerard @db it’s always “how can we tear the heart out of css but keep it breathing?”

@db 🤣 Uh yeah… That’s a nope. I still have hope that one day the young kids will all come around to knowing the joy of hand-crafted CSS.

@db Yes hello this text-only website *crunches* when I scroll down in on my phone's browser. More optimized than hand-written CSS my ass.

@db I like how they have a heading that says:

                        > Ideal use cases

                        And then text which says:

                        > StyleX works well in a wide variety of projects. However, it was designed to meet the challenges of particular use cases.

…and then don’t mention any use cases 🤦‍♂️

@urlyman @db you misunderstand. There is an ideal of use cases. What those are we can kinda get closer to, but we can never truly know the ideal.
