Big same. I cheered for her -- cheered! -- with her victories against the god-botherers, with her world of whimsy and magic capturing the hearts of a generation.
And now it's gone, and I can see more clearly the cracks in the edifice. Of course she was a bigot. On reflection, it's written into every line of her books, from the British nobility implemented as if it were a net good to the shaming of so many positive human traits.
The whimsy is now sucked away, replaced with a bitter cold. The Harry Potters of the world are cops, have always been cops. The House Elves are still enslaved, and the people at the top continue drinking wine while the peasants starve in Knockturn Alley.

@markwyner @janeishly I have been very disappointed to learn what sort of human she is.
And I think it hits worse because the Harry Potter books spoke to something inside me. I felt I lived like a Harry, being different and looked down on for it. HP made me feel like someone understood that feeling, and created a place in my imagination where I could be happy.
And the mind that created it, which felt just like mine, turns out to be a rabid badger. She's taken that happiness away from me.

They have everything, could do anything. And they conspire not to be creative or interesting or positive, but simply to make others' lives worse, because the only thing that could put their fortunes in any sort of positive light is to revel in the plight of the downtrodden.
