@bwaber @andybaio Seconded—the Ig Nobel does not belong here! But now that you mention it, each of the other awards also go to writings/performances/actions that first make you laugh, and then make you think.
It doesn't help the acronym, but you could swap in the Carbuncle Cup, awarded in the UK for bad architecture, the anti-Stirling prize.
