I know this isn't exactly the same, but there's a built-in system on Mastodon that prevents you seeing boosts repeatedly unless 40 other posts have gone through your timeline. It's switched on by default, but the limit of 40 is apparently too low for a lot of people.
This limit is apparently going to be increased to 80 other posts, which will further reduce the amount of repetition.
