As a little oriental boy growing up in a depressingly red state, I looked up to and was inspired by Mr. Takei's rendition of Lt. Sulu in Star Trek.

Amazing! I was there at the beginning when it was shown in the UK on BBC2, largely because it was sindicated in colour.
Little did they know what an inspiration or would be and how it would both influence and predict the future.
