I was there at the beginning, and I can tell you: we never imagined how far that dream would travel, into homes, into hearts, into the way generations imagined what we could still become. In a world that often feels as divided as ever, maybe that's exactly why we need it now: a reminder that unity was always the point.

When I was a little kid, I once took a bottle of candy sprinkles, the kind you decorate baked goods with, and these looked like little green crystals. So I hand-made a new label for it and taped it on. It said "Green dilithium* crystals Max warp factor 8".
* This of course was badly misspelled, I forget how exactly. I tried asking my mom how to spell it, but she had no idea.

@georgetakei By the way: On German TV the vulcan greeting was translated to »Lebe lang und in Frieden« - what re-translated would be »Live a long and peaceful life«.

Reminds me of the time I tried translating the song Silent Night into Klingon. That was hard, for cultural differences. When translated back to english, it had parts like "the child is timid and weak", and "round up the virgins, mothers and children."
