This is a Kodeviser. A code generator for the Danish 2FA system. It is free. You activate it on a website. You do not need an app or smartphone to access digital services in Denmark.
This is a Rejsekort. You tap it to pay on buses & trains. The new ticket system will include a card. You do not need an app or smartphone to travel on Danish public transport.
I keep seeing a viral toot that says you’re excluded from 2FA & public transport in Denmark if you have no app or phone. This is not true.

Digital coercion bothers me greatly. I avoid apps. I have a travel card & code generator. It bothers me that they nudge everyone towards the 2FA app and ticketing app. They don’t advertise the non-app solutions loudly. We shouldn’t do their work for them, telling each other that the non-app alternatives don’t exist. Then people will get the app, thinking they’ve no alternative, which makes it look like fewer people want non-app solutions, which makes it easier to justify downgrading them.

@CiaraNi But the rejsekort is being abolished in 2026 to use an app instead (I think they're introducing some kind of replacement for "non-digital citizens")

"A new card called Basiskort. It must always be possible for people in Denmark to purchase tickets for public transport. We know that approx. 10% of travelers either do not have a smartphone, feel digitally insecure or wish to remain fully anonymous and they cannot use apps. The new ticket solution is designed for them so they can still buy a ticket when the physical Rejsekort is phased out in May 2026."
