While ICE is killing innocent people, teargassing babies and pastors, and kidnapping our neighbors to ship them off to foreign torture prisons, seven House Democrats just voted with the GOP to give the regime’s secret police even more funding.

They are racists, that's why. But given some of their names I'm scratching my head.

@indivisibleteam I would hope you primary the shit out of these. You don't need people seeking a middle ground with facists.

@indivisibleteam - more than half of them with the kind of last name that'll get them targeted by ICE & thrown into a concentration camp. What the actual fuck is wrong with these assholes.

@jwcph @indivisibleteam they think they're "one of the good ones". When I moved abroad from my home country, I had quite a few people tell me I'm "one of the good ones" and people who say that are always terrible in my experience.
They think they will be in an in group and whenever they are discarded and attacked after their purpose ran its course, they are shocked. How could this happen. Every damn time, man.

@thereverend4253 @indivisibleteam True - but the news all the way back through DT's first term has been full of stories of people who "thought they'd only go after the bad ones" & found out that's not how this fucking works.
It's not about disagreeing who "the bad ones" are, it's about racism & it's plainly stated at this point; gov't officials have said flat-out, on record, that they want to deport ALL Latin people.

@jwcph @indivisibleteam 100% agree and yeah not how it works.
I'm wondering what's the breakdown there - how many are conscious grifters burned on ill picked grift?
How many just "weren't political" for years but "like the tone of message of DT" then voted for this mess twice?
In my anectode I asked one person to explain to me what "a good one means" and they wrapped themselves up in a pretzel trying not to sound bigoted lol

@jwcph @indivisibleteam I had a few people tell me they voted for him "cause he pissed people off" and "might be a laugh". I... what? I love me gabling societal progress on... a laugh? Since when was any of this funny?
Same people are now complaining that "it's not what we voted for". Yes it is, you knew, you condoned this shit, now you are trying to pretzel logic your way into position where you are directly responsible for this result.

@thereverend4253 @jwcph @indivisibleteam while you are absolutely right, what now? Hitler was legally elected, so then what? History blamed all of Germany for going along with their government. Now Americans get to show us what they would do differently.

@ianrogers @jwcph @indivisibleteam That's the rub, isn't it?
Since Congress straight up abdicated their responsibility and "checks and balances" are not even worth paper they are written on, if written down at all how will society ultimately deal with this in the long run.
However people look at it, violence is here already and more to come. Historically we didn't seem to learn any lessons. Again. May we all live in interesting times huh

@ianrogers @jwcph @indivisibleteam It would be far too easy to say "simple, rebel, resist, people will die either way so do you want to die on your knees or standing up" from the comfort of my chair. Unfortunately, that' might be the only option.
As you said, Americans have/had a chance to show us and it aint looking too great to be honest.

@thereverend4253 @ianrogers @indivisibleteam FWIW physically fighting is far from the only option - in fact, the most powerful effort BY FAR under fascism is organizing everyday resistance such as strikes, walk-outs, demos, community support etc.
These activities can still get you targeted by the Goon Squad if they find out about it; this is not to say it isn't dangerous - on the other hand it's very different from the idea of physically standing up to a gang of armed, violence-prone thugs.

@jwcph @ianrogers @indivisibleteam Totally agree. Also, economic resistance. General Strike would definitely be one of the options and that goes with what you said about organizing everyday resistance.
