@pietkuip probably because there was no Niño those years? - it's not a yearly event and comparing those years wouldn't tell you anything useful

edit: actually where do you have that info from - I don't see it being limited like that

edit: yes I can definitely spot the previous two years in there as hard as it is to spot them

I don't think that there is silence (see below for two topical articles in the Guardian and Sueddeutsche Zeitung) rather there is too much noise.

People are just not able to cope with the deluge of information. Important pieces such as this one are drowning in a sea of chatter.
