Watched porpoises gamboling in the Aarhus Bay as I was running along Strandvejen today. It was pretty magical

...and did wonders for my performanceLater I learned two things.
Its wonderful to get a cold saltwater bath in the bay when your body is overheated from running
️Once I was dry and dressed I managed to drop my phone from the jetty.
Learned that a fairphone can deal with being submerged in 7mins, then rinsed and restarted

I'm an idiot! But fellow cold water bathers are super helpful luckily

Addendum.. welllll that phone is gonna need a bit more time in a bag of rice. Did allow me exactly enough time to write 2 toots though

@BogWitch I find that they usually work for a little while and then short
Good luck! -

Good luck!@CarstenBoll well you were so right. Guess I got my hopes way up once it booted after the incident.
I'll have to be more careful with my next Fairphone round bodies of water

@BogWitch Sucks, but I've been there a couple of times. I think it might be possible to save the phone if you don't power it on at all, take out the battery if possible, and the dry it out for a long time. But I've never had the patience

@CarstenBoll heh yeah. I think the screen is definitely dead though (but replaceable given Fairphone).
I'm mostly considering sending it to a local wizard who once saved photos from a camera I accidentally formatted. Maybe he'd be able to do the same here

@CarstenBoll @BogWitch I’ve heard that too. And always remember it 30 seconds after turning the device on 🥳.

@CarstenBoll Yup. Turn it off, leave it in an air stream of dry warm air (just place it on top of a radiator).
Don't put it inside a bag of rice or anything like that. It'll just make it worse as the humidity can't find its way out.

@pms @CarstenBoll hah
I'm too impatient, and overly optimistic about these things. Good to know it's not just me. -

@Pepijn @CarstenBoll that's where I've heard the opposite. Never put it on a radiator.
Did give it a gentle wave of my hairdryer though. But should probably have separated all the parts first. However.. my bf has the iFixit set and I was wayyy to impatient -

That was wrong advice though. The thing with the hairdryer is that it only dries the outer parts, and with the high heat might even damage stuff.
This is, in part, my job btw. Have strong fact based opinions

@Pepijn @CarstenBoll cool!
I'll take your advice then.
Unfortuneately, there is so much advice out there on the internet - it's very easy to get confusedEdit: I did keep my dryer about 20cm away from the phone at all times. That's what I meant by gentle. I do have some previous bad experience with drying a mobile phone under 750W bulb (yes, I said 750. For keeping chickens or piglets warm)
