@withaveeay It's a thing that I'm asked a lot Stevan. When it comes to wildlife you have to be careful not to let your imagination run away with you, most dolphins I would imagine don't recognise me. That being said, one female definitely knew me by sight and would come and stop at the old slipway at North Kessock to look at me, her old mum would sometimes do this with her in tow as a young calf and she eventually did it with her son, who is named after me and he does know me, definitely.

@Dolphinchaz One just hears so many stories of dolphins forming such extra-species connections, so wondered if you'd experienced it. It's almost obvious they would, in one way, but then it feels as though it's anthropomorphism. But the family that knows you must make your work extra special, for sure.
Unless, of course, the old mum was really pointing you out and saying "Avoid that ol' bawbag, and tell your kids". I mean, that's understandable too.

@Dolphinchaz Many happy memories. There and while waiting for the Nigg ferry in Cromarty, watching the dolphins moving, seemingly, from the North Sea with the incoming tide.

@DavidVC39 Cromarty and the seasonal ferry is still a great place to watch from - or take a boat trip out with Ecoventures 👍

Heard tales of porpoises rescuing fishermen in the Caribbean. Touched one’s belly that was surfing a sailing ship’s bow wave in ‘72 off Guadalupe. I was crew on a classic yacht.

@stevewfolds Yes Steve, many stories from all round the world. Some have had fascinating encounters with whales, dolphins and porpoises.
