@meraord Re. the camera, I've found that the FP4 has a more-than-decent camera which (oddly) I've had more trouble with since switching to e/OS. The non-Google software doesn't seem to focus as accurately & struggles with motion correction, but is still a better than the FP3+ post-camera-module upgrade.

The camera on my partner's FP5, however, completely outclasses my FP4 even at its best, & I'd imagine the FP6 continues that.

(we use their camera for any "fancy nice pics" we're taking)

In my opinion (Fairphone 4 user with the Fairphone android OS) don't buy the Fairphone if you're very interested in getting a high-end phone camera.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the photos, but compared to other phones, it's not the best. I've attached a few examples that I'm happy with.

Other than that, I prefer the ease of repair and commitment to longevity (software updates etc) over weight.
And especially the ethical sourcing of materials

@GoodNewsGreyShoes Just to make sure: Have you been able to activate the native Fairphone camera app on your FP 4️⃣ ? This is not the /e/OS default camera app and needs to be activated in Settings > Apps (see https://community.e.foundation/t/feedback-for-v2-4-1/61882/24?u=urs_lesse). It might only be available in the "official" /e/OS version (not in the "community" version). /u

Jag har en Fairphone 6. Jag är inte nöjd så till vida att för pengarna kan man få en bättre telefon med lika lång support från annan leverantör.
Sen har den vissa egenheter där den bootar om sig till o från och sånt men det finns väl måndagsexemplar hos alla leverantörer tänker jag.

I've been happy with my Fairphones. I use both Android and e/OS. I just ordered Fairphone 6 for work after they shut down 2G/3G which made my Fairphone 3 obsolete. Would have used it much longer otherwise I like my private Fairphone 5 with e/OS as well. The camera is decent and definitely good enough for my needs (family pics). I recommend!

Remember that this is only a problem if you use a #degoogled android, like #e_os. Fairphone with the default android afaic have no problems - except carrying google play ofc ...

In Denmark, using /e/os with MicroG, some banking apps works, some doesen't, depending of weather the supplier use google play integrity api. Some public apps works, some not. Our national ID (MitID) does not, mobilepay (vippsmobilepay) does not, which is the biggest issue, because there is no alternative. For banking, you can use webbanking, and for the rest there are physical alternatives.

@meraord Jag har en Fairphone 4. Jag har fått göra två större reparation då jag byte ut skärmen och usb laddaren, men annars har den fungerat bra. Om du vill ha reparerbar elektronik är den bäst, annars finns det bättre alternativ.

@meraord @mesiverse2000 I use FP 5 since last Autumn. Still on Android, but I have successively degoogled it.

A key reason for buying FP was repairability/inheritability (rather than buying refurbed phones/more expensive screen repair for the kids).

It's bigger and heavier than my previous Samsung Galaxy S10.

I can't complain about the camera, but the degoogled alternatives to Google's photo editing app just aren't as good.

All things considered, I'm happy with my choice.
