It has been a hell of a week. Like everybody else who pays any attention, I’ve been ultra-distressed by the unfolding disaster in the Middle East, the continuing abductions by ICE and CBP, and various other large scale political events. I have been appalled and horrified by Trump’s utter indifference to the death and destruction he has caused, the risks he is creating for the American people, who he is supposed to be serving. Disgusted by Hegseth’s glee at his own lawless recklessness. 1/

At the local level, I have watched people cosy up to city officials rather than watch out for the interests of their fellow activists and refuse to consider the risks they are creating for others and themselves. Though not as horrifically consequential as Trump or Hegseth’s disregard for the well-being of others, the incompetence and deceitfulness in local matters echoes the same at the federal level. 2/

This, the born bootlickers seem to be *everywhere*. And it's not "cosying up to", it's plain prostitution. One seems to have to get a lot of plastic surgery to make that obvious.
Can't believe how fast people throw any kind of principles out the window as soon as they *think* they're getting rich - while participating in utter piramid schemes, sold via hightech.
Scking up to dictators never was mentally healthy.

@heidilifeldman Remember also to take a break when you need it. Even if you feel that fighting the good fight is too important for you to stop, you can’t help if you’re broken down. I’m sure you know this, just wanted to remind you to be kind to yourself

@heidilifeldman People around me seem to be on the edge, hanging on to the illusion of control by their fingernails.
Some have spun out, throwing adult tantrums over nothing.
Nothing means anything any more. There’s no meaningful work to do.
