@lightbocks @kirakira and then it was replaced by someone fumbling ineptly with a laptop, so they could show a PowerPoint slideshow that they were also distributing on a webpage so there wasn't any point in going to lecture at all. Technology has been so good for education! =D

@kirakira I miss these. expert mode: if there's a scroll of acetate sheet going across the platform so the lecturer can write out notes continuously, scrolling the plastic to get a clear writing area

@kirakira actually remember getting my "slides" printed on plastic to use one of those for a presentation. That had to wait for spreadsheets and presentation software though ...

@kirakira My HS art teacher in 1986: you can always just use an overhead projector to get your drawing onto a canvas.

@kirakira
There’s an awesome defcon talk, from this year I guess (you can get your hands on it on their YT) involving a guy (Cliff Stoll) who could very much be Rick from “Rick and Morty” - or maybe Emmet “doc” Brown, from return to the future - and one of those retro-thingy machines.
I’ve never seen a man operate one of those with such skills

@kirakira We used to do our tutorials on acetates, were loaned the pens and a single sheet that then got wiped and reused. Quicker and easier than PowerPoint.

A friend sabotaged these projectors by blocking the ventilation slits so that the halogen bulb inside overheated.
I still use one as a light source with a continuous spectrum. Hard to find these days.
