Für mein Studium werde ich demnächst ein #Essay verfassen zu dem Thema, ob/wie #Buchdesign die Zukunftsfähigkeit von Printausgaben als Premiumprodukte sichert, speziell im Bereich #Fantasy. Dazu benötige ich natürlich wissenschaftliche bzw. #Sachliteratur zu #Design #Buchmarkt #Genre etc. Zusätzlich plane ich Expert:inneninterviews. Haut doch gern mal ein paar Vorschläge und Anregungen raus.

Oh, what an interesting question. Books about individual genres are generally not my thing. I would suggest that you looked around on Google Scholar. It's still working just fine even despite the shortcomings of google. A lot of it is readily available open access, and if some of it isn't I might be able to help you still.

If your interest is on covers one theory that might help you (even if it is beyond genre studies per se) is Genette's theory of paratexts. He does not work directly with illustrations but much of it is readily applicable..

Beyond that, questions of genre are always there, and you may (will!) find that a lot of your questions about an individual genre are actually questions of genre in general. I wrote a broad introduction to the basic assumptions in genre research . It's fairly simple and you can download it directly here:
