@anderslund kubuntu is a good option. Fedora as well. Many people like linux Mint

@Oleksii I specifically look for a distro with KDE Plasma. Not that there is anything wrong with Linux Mint

@anderslund actually Arch isn't so complicated, but it has one of the best support. I'm not sure if many people really need so broad support but so far is the best for me

@Oleksii I run arch myself, sice years. The most troublefree, stable distro I can think of. But the person needing an update will prefer a slower update speed.

@harald That is what I stand on for now. I checked a debian live image with plasma, but there is much clutter. Kubuntu has a very nice setup

@anderslund I'm using it on my gen4 T14s with AMD, and everything works. I do miss a software raid option in the installer, but that's a no issue on a laptop. Wayland and fractional scaling works too. That stopped working in Ubuntu Budgie 25.10.
Took a while to configure LeftAlt instead of WinKey as meta. Love that I can configure everything like it was in Mate and 30 years back. Rotating virtual desktops, shortcuts all the same.

@harald I'm going to test it on my friends Lenovo Ideapad 110 with a 1.6G celeron processor and 4 MB ram. It will likely run better than windows 10, judging on what I have seen

@anderslund Recently moved to Neon/KDE w/Plasma. Has been so nice, I switched all my others to the same distro. It just fits me better.

@threeforks KDE Neon could be an idea, though it msy go away when KDE linux is released. I think I will give that a spin

@threeforks I really like it actually, absolutely no bloat, just a basic kde install. Do you update it entirely using discover?

@anderslund Not consistently, I update frequently, but it is a mix of apt updates/upgrades from the cli, and discover, whichever is handy. Big user of brew.

@threeforks
a) what is brew?
b) I will see if my friend can manage with discover, otherwise I will have to help her getting started
