      @holly One day, this will be displayed in a future museum somewhere, as an artifact from "the Greedy Era".

        The beginning says, "A letter to the Future", and the end of the plaque says, "August 2019, 415ppm CO2"

          @holly there’s a really lovely documentary about Iceland’s glaciers that’s narrated by the guy who wrote this, it’s called Time and Water and near the end it goes into him figuring out what to write on this plaque

                @holly That *hits*.

                We really are the proverbial frog in the pot of hot water, except we're aware of it, and *still*turning the heat up, *ourselves*.

                      @holly If this was in the US, chump would shit all over it. No one would touch it to see what it said.

                      I'm sorry that happened and glad the sign is there.

                          @holly

                          I read a news story the other month about a Swiss town where they have an annual religious rite.

                          It used to be dedicated towards pushing the glacier back.

                          Now it is dedicated to pulled the glacier forward.

                          Ah, found it:

                                    We won't be able to say that we didn't know

                                    If someone does not accept that global warming is real and that it is overwhelmingly caused by human activity, then I am not on speaking terms with that individual.
