TRANS PEOPLE in the US: What area of the US do you live in?
-
MIDWEST (trans people only): Pick which city or region you live in. Assume I am talking about the general metropolitan area of these cities.
@JoscelynTransient Where would you count as being "rural midwest?" Wyoming is both "rural" and "elsewhere" because it's definitionally fucking nowhere.

@SymTrkl I suppose Midwest is best bet then? Kinda Great Plains still (which, as a Nebraska girl, is Midwest and I will die on this hill)?

Sorry, was wondering and could only think of like two people in the West/mountain zone that’s not one of the other regions.

PACIFIC NORTHWEST (Trans people only): Pick which city or region you live in. Assume I am talking about the general metropolitan area of these cities.
@JoscelynTransient rural pnw ftw!

@JoscelynTransient I mean I count Denver as being midwest, mainly because nobody ever talks about "the west..."

-
Also, apologies for lopsided choices on the poll and missing a few regions. My instance only does 5 options for polls, and I tried to aim for where I at least know a few people are. Tried to add additional polls for others, know I still am glad you’re here and going to try to count you!
@JoscelynTransient I'm slightly closer to being in the Inner Mountain West, but I answered as PNW.

@SymTrkl @JoscelynTransient _I_ talk about the West, though I might be inclined to put Denver in the Rocky Mountain region. But even the classical Midwest is so varied in terms of culture, climate, economics, etc, that it is hard for me to see it as a singular region. Like, if you are going to include Ohio, Kansas, Minnesota, what do they really have in common?
(Other regions have similar divides, for example, the Pacific Northwest east vs west of the Cascades, but at least they are mostly divides within a state.)

TRANS PEOPLE in the US: What area of the US do you live in?
I'm curious what regions of the US have the most active trans users on the fediverse. Please respond first to this poll, then find the appropriate follow-up poll and respond too. This is mostly just for our general community curiosity/knowledge as an interesting bubble of trans people on the internet.
@JoscelynTransient What would you consider Alaska? Closest I can see is Pacific Northwest but we’re really sort of our own thing. I imagine Hawaii is as well.

@Undercat has those thoughts after posting too, was actually not sure how many Alaska and Hawaii trans folks we might have on here. Comments for now can work! I can add a poll for that too if there are enough. Going to probably put all this into an excel and make some graphs, so I can incorporate it that way

@JoscelynTransient at least 19 other trans people in my region and yet no immediate new friends since responding to this poll… tragic
(luckily I live in a pretty queer area but as far as I know my local trans friends are not on fedi) -

@JoscelynTransient I’ll be sad if I’m the only trans Mastodon user in Alaska. I won’t be terribly surprised, though.

@JoscelynTransient currently in the south and have been since 2017. Started transitioning in 2021. My it’s complicated relationship has fallen apart so I’m moving back to New England in late summer which is where I’m from.

@JoscelynTransient twin Cities are so weirdly over represented.

@JoscelynTransient northeast, specifically in the region where the local restaurants put Old Bay on everything

@JoscelynTransient hello from southern arkansas... there's a dozen of us down here, at least

I realize that I left out Florida and Texas now...Feel free to answer that here if you are in one of those. I suspect it's not the safest to openly identify as trans and living in those two states right now.
@JoscelynTransient I was gonna say Hawaii and Puerto Rico were left out. Florida and Texas are both in the South IMO.
