Loving your family in 2026 is discovering your female family members using insecure 3rd party apps to track their menstrual cycles and sitting down to write a private and secure one for them to use instead...

@MFennVT @noodlemaz @citc Can't be hacked, can be burned or shredded when needed.
It's sad that the world in some places has come to that! -
@citc is this one correlating with lunar cyclicity? It calls itself by the moon but doesn't seem to bring along lunar cycle awareness.

It's sad that the world in some places has come to that!@canyakker @MFennVT @citc yes I get the advantages in an extreme misogynistic surveillance state. Just laying out why people do want digital tracking, it's useful.

@Ruth_Mottram Very kind. I use the drip app. That's also tracking free.

@ang6666 @Ruth_Mottram it's not about trendy, but utility. https://mstdn.games/@noodlemaz/117021800942288217
@noodlemaz @ang6666 @Ruth_Mottram Sometimes I wonder whether people are only comparing the apps to, like, wall calendars. I'm glad people have whatever works for them, but paper cycle charts ruined me for everything else. They are so fast to fill out and make it so easy to see patterns by eye. I have quit probably a dozen cycle tracking apps over the years because they feel like so much work in comparison and they don't add any extra insight
I mean this kind of thing:

@lususlumi @lemgandi if it helps neither of my teens wanted a password manager but after only a couple of weeks they got the point...
@Ruth_Mottram the proton one or? im discovering i am a minority here in that i am not a coder/programmer/texh person! and doing some catching up..

@noodlemaz Spreadsheets on your own computer would be useful, too. I would never trust my menstrual record to a 3rd party app, regardless of the state of the state. Privacy is still a thing worth fighting for. 3rd party apps are never private. @canyakker @citc

@MFennVT @canyakker @citc yes, I don't disagree.

@lususlumi I currently use bitwarden (they have EU server too), but I am considering switching to proton. I think there's a lot of different options...

@Ruth_Mottram the proton one seems pretty good so far! kinda terrifying to be shown excatly how many times and places ive used the same passwords for a mix of incresibly important things and inconsequential things. whoops

@Zekovski
It's still maintained and does not seem to be in scope here.Not sure why that wasn't an option instead of actively using genAI to produce something that might actually have security issues.
