@randahl Just a note: We shouldn't link to YouTube in the Fediverse at all—there are alternatives.
i agree we should promote alternative like peertube, but we're in a situation where it's not always easy to do that, simply because of the content ratio. i want youtube to die and decentralized to replace it, but we have to be strategic about that, have a long term plan, not an absolutist demanding of compliance right now

I understand this as 'one rich individual wants to keep us in his wallet garden to make more money‘. In consequence we can’t see the green grass on the other side of the fence. That doesn’t fit to an open society in the 21. century.

@f4grx Joke is that social media managers and as someone who does digital media, is that company's and brands want as much growth as possible in the shortest time possible when joining a new platform
When Mastodon was growing due to people joining on, brands & businesses also joined & expected to get instant engagement. If they didn't, instead of simply continuing growing with OC, like they do with every other platform, they just gave up after a short amount of time and abandoned the accounts.

@randahl I'm stoked that there have been breakthroughs in Parkinson's. Maybe that means there will be more that we will be able to do with other neurological conditions as well!
Also, you are correct about engagement. Here, it is dictated by user interest.
